I’m Trusting the Process

There’s a common ideology in poker; don’t be results oriented. It keeps players from thinking they made the correct play when in fact, statistically, the play they made is the wrong one over the long-term. This is the philosophy I’m going to apply to my everyday life. Instead of putting emphasis on the end results, I’m going to focus on the actual work. The process.

Instead of looking at how many view my posts get I’m going to focus on the content and whether or not they’re valuable. Instead of looking at the likes on my next Instagram post I’m going to ask whether or not it brought any real value to others. I’m done glorifying vanity metrics.

One post blowing up isn’t going to lead to the success I’m looking for. Creating good content day after day, and being recognized for my hard work, knowledge, skill, and consistency is going to lead to the success I want. If people see one good post, or one good image, surrounded by crap, they aren’t going to give me any attention, because I don’t deserve it.

It’s very rare that I’m going to execute something perfectly. Sometimes the mistake will be small, like a misspelling or jumbled sentence. Other times, it may be sharing an incorrect fact or an opinion I haven’t fully thought out. But working on those things, the process, will lead me where I want to go. Hopefully.

The only way to truly find out is by putting in the work, focusing on the process, and being consistent.
